The Home Office has confirmed that eligible family members with relationships formed with British Citizens must return to the UK by 29 March 2022 and apply for an EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) family permit.
The EU Settlement Scheme is now closed. However, it is open for those who have reasonable grounds for late applications. We discuss the scheme’s eligibility criteria, what you are permitted to do with settled or pre-settled status, what the scheme’s application process is like and what documents are required to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.
A year later, these rules have come into force. As of October 1, 2021, the majority of EU, EEA and Swiss citizens are subject to adhere to the same entry rules as travellers from across the world, which means that they need valid passports to enter the UK.
Following the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union in 2019, the UK government made changes to the UK immigration applications, particularly in relation to European migrants and those who wished to work or settle in the UK. One of the areas in which changes were made was regarding cross-border/ frontier workers.
Now that Brexit has passed, we get many questions about EU and EEA nationals travelling to the UK for business.
On 21 June 2021 Kevin Foster wrote an open letter to the Director of Children’s Services applauding the efforts of the local authorities under his jurisdiction for their continued efforts in ensuring that looked-after-children and care leavers are eligible under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) and have made/are in the process of making applications to the scheme.
