UK Settlement Visas – Extensions
Explore UK Settlement Visas
The UK offers visas aimed at allowing you to extend your stay both indefinitely, and for a limited time. Many people already in the country are able to extend their stay in the UK. Depending on your circumstances; such as the visa you are currently on and how long you have been in the UK, you may be able to apply to stay in the country permanently.
Each of the visas have their own specific requirements and require you to match a certain description. You can find more information on each visa by following the links below but, should you have any questions, you can book a free consultation with us today.
Naturalisation
You can only apply for naturalisation once you have already been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain. Once you have lived in the UK for 12 months after acquiring your ILR you are then able to apply for naturalisation, otherwise known as a UK citizenship application.
Further Leave to Remain (FLR)
Further Leave to Remain (FLR) allows those granted it to stay in the UK for longer than their original visa allowed. It typically involves extending your current visa to enable you to continue your stay in the UK, although in some cases it will involve switching your visa.
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)
There are many reasons people wish to settle in the UK. They might move for economic reasons, to be with family or to live with a spouse/partner. These things often lead people to seek British citizenship, whereby they become legally recognised by the UK government as a member of British society.
Life in the UK Test
You will need to take the Life In The UK Test as part of your application for British citizenship or settlement in the UK. You’ll be tested on information in the official handbook for the Life in the UK Test.
