The UK offers a visa scheme, the Homes for Ukraine scheme, aimed at allowing Ukrainian citizens to live and work in the UK for a limited period. The visa schemes were introduced in 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces in February that year.
In response to the conflict, many countries pledged their support to Ukraine and its people. Many of them, including the UK, sent aid to Ukraine as well as actioning plans to allow those fleeing the conflict to access to their safe borders.

Extension to Ukraine Visa – May 2023 to May 2024
On May 2023, the UK Government announced that Ukrainians already in the UK with a visa will be able to extend their stay.
However, the Government has now announced that the Ukraine Extension Scheme will be closing on 16 May 2024. You will have until then to apply.
Under the UK government Ukraine Extension Scheme, you are able to live, work and study in the UK if you are Ukrainian or a close family member of a Ukrainian.

Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme – Homes for Ukraine
In response to the war, many countries across the world have pledged their support to Ukraine and its people. There are requirements that must be met by you in order for you to be eligible for the scheme. You must either be a Ukrainian citizen or an immediate family member of a Ukrainian citizen.
