Commonwealth Visas (and BNO)

The UK offers visas aimed at allowing Commonwealth citizens and nationals of former British territories, as well as people who have British heritage, to come and live in the UK. If you have a parent who was born in the UK or Commonwealth, or you yourself were born in such a region, it is likely that you will be able to gain British Citizenship.

Each of the visas listed below have their own specific requirements and require you to match a certain description. Woodcock Law & Notary Public is able to assist you with accessing information about a visa, and also with the application process itself. You will find much more information on each visa by following the links below but, should you have any questions, you can book a free consultation with us today.

While many UK visas require applicants to have a sponsor licence as part of their application, visas related to ancestry do not. They are completely dependent on your personal history and cannot be applied for by people who are not of British heritage.

Ancestry Visa

The UK Ancestry Visa is a popular immigration route, which is available to Commonwealth citizens who have at least one grandparent in the UK, and intend to work. There are several requirements for this visa, including the requirement to be willing to work.

British National Overseas Visa

The BN(O) Visa allows individuals from Hong Kong who are British Nationals (Overseas), along with their family members, to move to the UK. It enables individuals to live, work and study here and can lead to Indefinite Leave to Remain and citizenship.
