The visa is valid for three years. You may have the option to apply for an extension after the three years is over.Â
No, this visa does not need to be accompanied by a Sponsor Licence.
You can work for your designated employer full time, as well as bring over your family. You may eventually be able to settle in the UK permanently.
You are not allowed to work for another business or for yourself. You are also not able to claim public funds.
Representative of an Overseas Business Visa
If you are an employee of an overseas news agency or broadcasting organisation, and are to be posted on a long-term assignment to the UK, then the Representative of an Overseas Business Visa is best for you.
If you or the business you work with is looking to set up its first UK branch, applying for the UK Expansion Worker Visa is your best course of action.
Please note: The Sole Representative of an Overseas Business Visa – which was for businesses wishing to send an employee to the UK – is now closed. If you already have a Sole Representative visa, you are able to extend it.
Requirements
To be eligible for this visa you must:
- Have enough money to support yourself without help from public funds
- Meet the UK Government’s English language requirement
How long can you stay?
With the Representative of an Overseas Business Visa, you can stay for an initial period of three years. After this time, you may be able to extend your visa for another two years.
After five years, you can apply to settle in the UK.
How much does a Representative of an Overseas Business Visa cost?
The costs of this visa are dependent on your specific circumstances.Â
If you apply from outside the UK, the visa costs £625. If you apply from inside the UK, the visa costs £719.Â
In addition, you will need to pay the healthcare surcharge (IHS) as part of your application. The IHS is currently £1,035 per year.
