This visa was launched in August 2020, with the aim of making immigration to the UK quicker, easier and cheaper for healthcare professionals.

Another aim of this visa is to attract more healthcare workers to the country. The UK’s National Health Service is a vast organisation that employs over 1.7 million people at the time of writing. This makes it the fifth largest company in the world, and it is vital that the NHS is able to attract the staff they need to keep up with recruitment demands.
