UK Citizenship: Applying for UK Citizenship with a Criminal Record
In this video, we explain the rules around applying for UK citizenship with a criminal record. Your application for UK citizenship may still be successful, even if you have a criminal record. Applicants will normally be refused citizenship if:
- they have received a prison sentence of over 4 years
- if they have received a prison sentence of between 1 and 4 years, unless 15 years has passed since the end of the sentence
- if they have received a prison sentence of under 12 months, unless 10 years has passed since the end of the sentence
- if they have received a non-custodial sentence, unless 3 years has passed, prior to the date of application. We are specialists in UK visas and immigration.
